Don’t Manage Your Stress

Stress is something that everyone has to deal with. However, managing it is the wrong approach. Why would you want to manage something you don’t even want? We manage our finances because we want to keep a roof over our heads. We don’t want to keep stress.

So much of life is a state of mind, and it makes me feel sorry for most people on this earth, including almost everyone in my life. Because it seems to me that only a small percentage understand this, or at least care to try to exercise it.

Instead of trying to “manage” stress, my approach is becoming aware of it. Being stressed isn’t a state you have to be in for long periods of time.

Be aware of everything all the time. Try to stay in a continuous mindset. Even if you have to narrate your day to yourself, it’s better than going in circles in your head about things that don’t matter.
This means little to no time on a smart phone and planning out the time you spend on the internet on other devices.

Everything we experience in life is within us. Everything. So, the next time you feel like you will be stressed or are stressed, choose not to be. This may sound stupid, but it is the only thing that works.

I’m not talking about distractions like drugs, alcohol, food, sex, friends, family, and religion. The only thing that can stop it is you.

Stress comes in waves throughout the day for me. I hear people ask when was the last time you were stress-free, and the answer a lot of the time is something like high school. This really bums me out. The answer should be earlier that day.

It’s natural to get stressed, but it’s not natural to always be stressed. The key is to be aware and not manage it. Also, throwing your smartphone in the trash would help too.
